We recently spent a wonderful week away in Barbados, and once we got back home I couldn’t stop thinking about the All Greens Smoothie we started our mornings with every day. It was refreshing, energizing, and packed with fibre.

When you are travelling it can sometimes be hard to stay focused on your wellness goals. Healthy food options while travelling may be few and far between.

I loved that our resort offered lots of healthy options. There is nothing worse than being away on vacation and feeling bloated and tired because you're eating all the foods your body just isn't used to having day to day. But this all-greens smoothie ensured that I started each day with plenty of fibre.

Back at home, I decided to take a shot at recreating it, and while my first attempt scored an 8/10 (it was missing the beach and poolside view) It is a recipe worth sharing.

Whether you're a smoothie lover looking for a balanced snack, or a perimenopausal woman seeking to add more fibre and antioxidants to your diet, this one’s for you.

Why All Greens?

For perimenopausal women in particular, they offer key nutrients to support hormonal changes like calcium, magnesium, and vitamins A and C. Plus, the added fibre helps with digestion, balances blood sugar, and may reduce bloating – a win-win!

Ingredients You’ll Need

The magic of this smoothie lies in its simplicity and balance. Here’s what makes it so special (and healthy):

  • 1 cup kale and spinach mix

Packed full of antioxidants, vitamins, and fibre, kale and spinach are some of the most nutrient-dense greens you can add to your diet. They’re low in calories, but high in calcium (good for bone health), magnesium, and vitamin C, which are essential for immunity and skin health.

  • 1/2 frozen banana

Bananas add natural sweetness and creaminess to this smoothie. They’re also rich in potassium, which helps regulate blood pressure and reduce bloating—a common concern during perimenopause.

  • splash of apple juice

Apple juice is rich in antioxidants like quercetin, which supports heart health.

  • 2-3 ounces of green tea

Green tea is loaded with catechins, which are antioxidants that improve metabolism. I steep mine the night before so it's ready to go in the morning,

  • splash of pineapple juice

Pineapple juice adds a tropical punch and a dose of bromelain, an enzyme known for its anti-inflammatory properties and digestive health benefits.

How to Make the All Greens Tropical Smoothie

  1. Add all ingredients to your blender and blend on high for 1-2 minutes, or until the kale and spinach are fully incorporated, and the mixture reaches your desired consistency. If it’s too thick, add a touch more apple juice or green tea.
